After months of emails and many hours of preparation we finally got Garage Band Reunion One off the ground. Labor Day weekend 2009 was a great time for many musicians from across the USA. We all shared one thing in common, MUSIC. Mitchell South Dakota was the city. Jackpot Gamblin' was the location where we gathered for two days of fun and music. Trey Tosh from Fresno California entertained us Friday evening during registration. Saturday started early at 8:00am with registration and bands gathering and practicing. The music started at 4:00pm and lasted until 2:00am Sunday.

Some of the bands represented were: Incorporation, Lenny Trio, Time Bomb, Image, Shakti, Mystic, Horizon, Citizens Band, Flatland Express, Trey Tosh, Booze Brothers, Wooden Nickel, Starfire, Firesteel Country, Derek Olson (solo), Good Times, Faded Blue, Past Generation, Holocaust, Axe Of Faith, Rose, Azure Divit and Hocus Pocus. Craig Youngstrom provided the venue and acted as emcee for the weekend. Thank you Craig! The sound system, microphones, drums and amps were provided to make the transition from band to band somewhat " plug and play ". The amplifiers were courtesy of Paulson Music in Mitchell. A big THANKS goes out to them for their part in making GBR1 a huge success. A link to the GBR website can be found here on this web site.

2009 was the first year of the Dan Cunningham Award. Dan and his family played and also supplied instruments for many of the local musicians. He was kind and very giving. A plaque was presented to the family and one lucky musician each year will be awarded the honor. Plans for GBR2 are under way. Labor Day weekend 2010...same place, Jackpot Gamblin'.....Mitchell, South Dakota. So far we have Derek Olson, Shakti and more so plan to attend and bring friends and family. It's like a big class reunion only better because we all have something in common and we don't have anything to prove. See you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!
