Inductee

The SDRRMA board is honored to announce  Bob Maag with the Spirit of the Music award.

Bob Maag grew up on his family farm near Tripp, SD. He was born in 1948, and passed away on Leap Day of 2016.
Bob was an incredible vocalist and musician. His first band was "The Postmen" and he performed in several bands that were all inducted into the SD Rock and Roll Music Association. After a professional career in music with The Postmen, The Talismen, Priceless, Nickel Bag of Soul, and Showcase, Bob purchased Island Park Ballroom in Milltown and Groveland Park in Tyndall.
In 1985 he began working for the USDA as a loan service officer for the Farmers Home Administration. Bob worked in Vermillion, Winner, Burke, Miller, and Huron. After retirement at the age of 63, Bob spent his time promoting the history of rock and roll in South Dakota. He was inducted six times, with a seventh and eighth time happening in April of 2016. He was an all-state athlete at Tripp. His sarcastic and quirky sense of humor will be greatly missed by all those who called Bob "Friend."
