The Fabulous Trippers

Originating in Sioux Falls, the Trippers had five members that consisted of Mike Ward(rhythm guitar), Mark Henjum(lead guitar), Gordy Haugan(bass), Terry Park(drums), and Mark Griffin(organ). They were soon joined by lead singer Chris Harper. Their reputation as a good group spread quickly and soon they had offers to play every weekend. Since they were Sioux Falls high school students, most of their gigs were in the area but the summer months allowed them to work all over the upper Midwest.

In their second year of existence the Trippers opened for the Lovin Spoonful at the Sioux Falls Arena and the next year they were on the same bill as Neil Diamond. They were featured at The Roof Garden in Arnold's Park and also at a big Sioux Falls Ramp Dance. 1967 was the year they recorded at Dove Studios in Minneapolis. Kaleidoscope/Conquistador and Have you Ever were both very popular in the area with the latter receiving some national attention. After performing together for a couple of years the guys went their separate ways.
