The Red Dogs In
the spring of 1965 the Red Dogs (then known as The Limits) were hired to begin
touring with Mid-Continent Entertainment. They were also hired to be the house
band for the Red Dog Inn in Lawrence, KS, thus came the name change.Their Roarin' Red Dogs ads on KOMA reached an estimated three million listeners per night in fourteen states from Texas to the Canadian border. From 1965 to 1969 the group played every weekend, holiday, & every day in the summer. With horns, organ, guitar, and drums, plus well-choreographed routines, the Red Dogs were a terrific and very popular show band. In 1967 the Red Dogs released their 1st single 45 nationally, and "We're Gonna Hate Ourselves in the Morning" reached number one on the pop charts in Sioux Falls. In 2005 the band got back to play together for the 1st time in over 30 years when they were inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame and the Iowa Rock & Roll Music Hall of Fame. |
