Their company was called C&M Enterprises and their first client was the Screamers, a local band that eventually turned into the Velaires. Soon they were booking a number of bands into all the popular ballrooms and nightclubs. They soon produced their own shows combining the talents of local and national acts.

The successful venture continued until the late 60's, a time when ballrooms started losing their popularity. In 1997 the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association was formed and Dick was an original member whose hard work helped the organization become one of the most successful rock and roll groups in the country. Unfortunately Dick recently lost his battle with cancer but IRRMA has honored him by creating the Dick Matousek Lifetime Achievement Award that recognizes a deserving person each year.
